     The Anti–Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014 commenced on 20 October 2014.  One of the powers available through this legislation is a Public Spaces Projection Order (PSPO) which is designed to stop individuals or groups committing anti-social behaviour in a public space.

We seek to use this legislation to help deal with several types of anti-social behaviour (detailed in the report).

The legislation requires public consultation before making such an Order.  The statutory requirement is to consult with the chief officer of police and the local policing body for the area, whatever community representatives the local authority thinks appropriate and any owner or occupier of land within the restricted area.

A PSPO, once made, is valid for 3 years and, if still required, should be renewed before the expiry date.  The current PSPO (2017) expired 31 March 2020.

The consultation we sought permission to undertake at Cabinet in October 2019 has now closed. 

The purpose of this report is to:-

·       Cabinet to consider the results of the above consultation

·       Cabinet approve the making of a new Order for the next 3 years.
