The Chair and Co Chair welcomed everyone to the meeting and members took the opportunity to introduce themselves.

The minutes of the meeting held on the 8th November 2011 were agreed following a correction to the postcode given in Item 6 – NCC Prevention Consultation – as corrected below.

Matters Arising

 

Following a discussion relating to an Ombudsmen Report at the meeting held on the 8th November 2011, feedback had been requested with regards to a response. It was noted that officers would pursue this matter and a report bought to a future forum meeting.  

4.

Budget Consultation

Minutes:

The Head of Policy and Community Engagement gave a presentation to members of the forum on the Budget Consultation.  Members of the forum questioned if:

 

  • Costs could be reduced if there were better communication between the Council and residents/tenants on certain matters such as heating and pest control.

 

  • Whether, if bin men created litter as a result of bin emptying, were other people employed to pick up their litter.

 

  • What risks were faced with regards to data sharing and risks to confidentiality?

 

The Head of Policy and Community Engagement thanked the members of the forum for their feedback. The Chair of the forum thanked Thomas for his presentation.

Helping Overview and Scrutiny : Hate Crime project pdf icon PDF 29 KB

Minutes:

The Chair of Scrutiny Panel 1 – Hate Crime explained that as part

of the Overview and Scrutiny process, evidence was being gathered in order to put forward recommendations. A list of core questions, relating to Hate Crime, was circulated prior and at the meeting. It was explained that a report

would be taken to the Overview and Scrutiny Committee in the near future to report the findings.

 

On completion of the questions, the Chair of the Scrutiny Panel 1 thanked the

members of the Disabled Peoples Forum for their feedback.

 

The Co Chair thanked Councillor Glynane for attending the meeting.

6.

Northants County Council Fire and Rescue Service

Minutes:

Apologies were received from the representative from Northants County Council Fire and Rescue Service and therefore the Item was deferred.

7.

Community Information Exchange

Minutes:

·        An exhibition for the Stamp Out Hate Crime was being held in the Peoples Gallery – Northampton Museum and Arts Gallery between the 17th January and the 4th March 2012.

 

·        Holocaust Memorial Day – 27th January 2012 to be held in the Courtyard at the Guildhall with an evening event being held on Monday the 30th January 2012 in the Great Hall and the Court Room (Guildhall) between 16.30 and 21.00)
